Old silver haired white guys

Is it me or are all of our leading conservative spokesmen  50-60 yrs. old, silver haired or bald, and white. Although I have a mexican father, a mexican sur name, and look completely hispanic my  white grandfather who is old, mostly bald with some silver hair left, raised me. He is my only true hero. So don't take this piece the wrong way.

I was watching Hannity's great american panel and Hugh Hewitt was on the panel and I just couldn't get over his silver lettuce. It's not just the silverness of it, it's just so generic and totally void of any style.  Slick it back or something, grow a goatee, anything. One of the following days on the panel Dennis Prager's silver dome showed up. Straight laced, the professorial looking glasses, pretty much a carbon copy of Hugh. On sunday, I believe on Fox Sunday Newt and his white locks were in full glory. Now each one of these conservatives I respect very deeply. Hugh Hewitt is in my top three radio talk show hosts that I listen to. These three are extremely intellectual but I don't know if small t.v. segments are enough to show that each one of these guys posess a sense of humor, pop culture, and more. Even Sean Hannity who has a salt and pepper thing going on, has what seems to be a boring version of Reagans quite stylish do. Whats even more disturbing is Hannity is the stiffest of them all and he's one of the younger prominent voices on our side. Cheney, Rove, Rush, all bald grey haired white guys. Then you have guys like George Will and Tucker Carlson wearing bow ties. Are we trying to send young people running the other way? When people start talking about changing the party they talk about being more inclusive, open minded, and rolling back some of our social policies. Thats not the problem. We need to stick to our conservative tenents. Especially now, we have a chance to make a clear distinction between conservative policies and liberal policies. I am 38, have tatoos, shave my head from time to time, I listen to Social Distortion, Dr. Dre, Gypsy Kings, Foo Fighters, Tupac, Bob Seger, and many others. I'm not saying that your appearance and what kind of music you listen to is the end all in flipping young people to our side, but it couldn't hurt. I work with a lot of young guys in construction and they trip out when I say that I'm a conservative. They ask me why. I tell them it's pretty simple. Everybody is always complaining about the government, especially young people. Conservatives are the only ones calling for less government, less politicians, less intrusion into our daily lives, less taxes, less red tape when trying to get things built. We promote small business, gun rights, and individualism. They had no clue thats what we are about. Most think that we want to censor music and force religion down their throats. We are sexually repressed and are basically the party of no. No you can't do this, no you can't do that. What liberals have done so effectively is define us in the most undesirable ways. Homophobic, racist, war mongoring, religious zelots, that are about as much fun as an insurance convention.

If this was a different time I think the astetics of our leaders would be trivial. But we are fighting liberalism not only through the media (movies, t.v., music, and news) but we are fighting liberalism in our colleges, and now our k-12 system. I just saw a Fox News report that had on a professor from Dayton who has written a book on the liberal bias in our public school's text books. Just seeing some of the examples in the book and hearing about the things being taught at our public schools( global warming the most prevelant) it's starting to look like we're in a losing battle. We need every advantage we can get. We need more Jonah Goldbergs, Meghan Kellys and Mary katherine Hamms. Smart, hip, attractive, fashionable and funny. We've have become a narcissistic nation. Our new president happens to be young, good looking, and well spoken. On top that he happens to be the most narcissistic politician this country has ever seen, in my opinion. If John McCain had the same exact policies as Barack Obama (some extrapolated that he did), and ran as a democrat we would be calling Hillary President instead of  Obama. We need some well spoken, hip, young, intelligent conservatives to present and explain our positions with clarity and style. We still need the Hugh Hewitts, Pragers, Newts, and Limbaughs, a lot of people relate to them and they are true conservatives with tremendous intellectual prowess, but we could still use some new faces.

P.S.

I don't mean growing a ponytail if you're going bald or getting a earring at 50 years old like Ed Bradley of 60 minutes, like many aging liberals like to do.
