Obama's logic

A letter was sent to the Senate by two key players in the insurance industry, America's Health ins. plans and Blue Cross/ Blue Shield. They stated that if the government offered a public option that it would "dismantle" private insurers which prompted USA Today reporter David Jackson to ask, "Why are they wrong? And secondly, this public plan, is this non-negotiable? Would you sign a health-care bill without it?" Obama responded with a brief fillibuster on why we need health-care reform, gave some statistics, and told a story of  a Green Bay mother of two that had a double mastectomy but the cancer had moved to her bones. While she had insurance and a husband who worked she still owed more than 50 thousand in medical bills that were still mounting. Then Obama finished with "the status quo wasn't acceptable."  Towards the end of the non answer he said that a public plan is "a important tool to discipline insurance companies," and if you're a small business that can't afford what is out there, "As one of those options, for us to be able to say, here's a public option that's not profit-driven, that can keep down admisitration costs and that provides you good, quality care for a reasonable price-as one of the options for you to choose, I think that makes sense." That final and revealing part of the answer ensured the follow-up and logical question by Jackson. "Won't that drive insurers out of business."

He responded, "Why would it drive private health insurance out of business? If private insurers say that the marketplace provides the best quality healthcare; if they tell us that they're offering a good deal, then why is it that the government-which they say can't run anything-suddenly is going to drive them out of business? That's not logical."
"Now, the--I think that there's going to be some healthy debates in congress about the shape that this takes. I think there can be some legitimate concerns on the part of private insurers that if any public plan is simply being subsidized by taxpayers endlessly that over time they can't compete with government just printing money, so there are going to be some, I think legitimate debates to be had about how this plan takes shape."
"But just conceptually, the notion that all these insurance companies who say they're giving consumers the best possible deal, if they can't compete against a public plan as one option with consumers making the decision what's the best deal, that defies logic."
Amazing, he gives us two of the main reasons why private business can't compete against government then tells us we're are being illogical for thinking it.
He said it, the govenment's plan isn't "profit-driven" and they can just, "endlessly print money". If a private company just breaks even and loses no money, then that company is out of business. Business owners have to pay for their own personal expenses such as food, gas and electric, car payments, and mortgages. What about the extras like college tuition for the kids, home improvements, vacations, and hobbies which are why most people go into business for themselves in the first place. The government is not hamstrung by the whole profit thing. A great example of that is the Senate-run dining room, cafeteria, and coffee shops. From 1993-2008 these Senate-run businesses lost 20 million dollars until this year finally deciding to turn it over to private operators. Across the street the House's restaurants and food courts that are privately run have racked up around 1.2 million dollars in profit in the same time frame. Why were these restaurants allowed to go on year after year losing money? Because the government can print money, tax more, and move money around shifting money from one program to another program. Why did they lose money in the first place? Because the businesses in question weren't profit driven remember what the President said, the government's plan won't be "profit driven". Goods and services offered by profit driven companies will always be better in quality, price, and efficiency. If the quality isn't there the custumers will go elsewhere. Businesses competing for your dollar are constantly looking to improve, wether it be speed, accessability, or the actual quality of product they are offering. When people started to really complain about how long it would take to get something done at the DMV what was the governments solution? Remove the clocks. Foget about looking inward and trying to correct inefficiencies in the system the government thought they could trick the people, not realizing most people wear watches and if they didn't could just as easily ask another person in line. Obama and his people are trying to trick you. They are saying that this is not a govenment takeover, people who are happy with their insuance plans need not worry you will be able to keep your insurance. How's that  possible when you have the government who can lower their price against private insurers and not worry about losing a dime. Secondly, and not much talked about, the government creates the rules that private insuance has to play by. It would be like playing a football game and the other teams head coach was the Commisioner and the assistant head coach was the referee. These existing rules or "red tape" created by the government are why health care costs have been rising in the first place. Much like the housing bust the government creates the problem, blames someone else, then comes in and says we're the only ones who can fix it.  Government can create the laws and regulations that favor their plan. So Obama is saying over and over you can keep your private insurance. Obama had a conference call with some left-wing bloggers and was asked about a provision in H.R. 3200 which seemed to say otherwise.
Blogger: "Investors Business Daily, they're saying that H.R. 3200 will make individual private medical insurance illegal. Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?
Obama: "You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you're talking about.
I have read the provision the blogger is referring to plus two others and it does seem to say that there can be no more private insurance plans written after the public option is made available, telling private insurance whats the minimum services a plan can offer, and what they can charge. What's scary is Obama didn't know what provision the blogger was talking about but yet he is infatic about telling us we will be able to keep out private plans that polling shows 85% of us are happy with.

As it stands now we have a jackpot civil justice system and doctors are forced to carry unbelievably high mal-practice insurance. Will the government have to carry malpratice insurance? I suppose you can sue the government for malpractice but what are the odds going to be for someone who gets free healthcare from the government. Will the private citizen even file when the realize the government has unlimited resources to defend itself  from someone taking a handout.  Obama and the Democrats have not put in one bill, tort reform. Tort reform would if framed right, put a stop to base-less lawsuits and put a cap on jackpot payouts. This would lower the cost of malpractice insurance and the cost of what doctors and hospitals charge health insurance companies. But trial lawyers are one of the biggest contributors to the Democratic Party, so don't hold your breath.

So is it logical to think private health insurers can compete with the government who has no profit to worry about, who can set prices as low as they wish and run deficits year after year and print their own money. A government who doesn't have to worry about malpractice lawsuits, and a government who creates the rules of  the game they're playing in, then referee's it. That's Obama logic.

Michael Jackson Vs. 1st Lt. Brian Bradshaw

1st Lt. Brian Bradshaw member of the 1st Battalion, 501st parachute regiment based in Fort Richardson, Alaska died on  june 25th the same day of pop star Michael Jackson's death. 1st Lt. Bradshaw was killed by an improvised explosive device in Afganistan while Jackson died from cardiac arrest due to an overdose of painkillers, antidepressants, and the anesthesia drug Dipriva. (Allegedly). Media analysis confirms that Michael Jackson received three times the coverage of Iraq, where U.S. troops pulled out of the cities into base camps of Afganistan. Where operation Kanjar, strike of the sword was undertaken and congress passed Cap and Trade, a bill that will raise taxes more than any other bill in history. Only in his hometown in Washington St. and where he was stationed in Alaska covered the 1st Lt., rescue volunteer, altar boy, and camp counselor.

Lt. Bradshaw's aunt wrote the Washington Post to show her dissapointment in the inequaility in coverage which has started a much needed discussion on where are values are as a nation. We idolize celebrities, actors, atheletes, and musicians. We have spent billions on magazines, we buy the products they promote, there are countless shows on t.v. a solely devoted to celebrities where every move they make is documented, E.T., Access Hollywood, Extra, TMZ, etc.. And finally we vote for the people they endorse. I know you don't... but believe me others do. Especially this time around. Even the reclusive Robert DeNiro spoke at a rally for Obama. Angelina Jolie is a Goodwill Ambassador to the U.N., Kumar from Harold & Kumar fame is now in the Obama administration. Oprah used her show to promote the man. George Clooney has been to the White House to talk policy on Darfur.

We have embolded these celebraties so much so whereas Sean Penn a great actor who I grew up watching and admiring took it upon himself to make trips to Iraq and Venezuela, on what he calls "fact finding missions". In Iraq he mingled with Iraqi citizens, went to a childrens hospital, and met with disinformation minister Tariq Aziz and said, "I needed to come here see a smile, to see a street, smell the smells, talk to the people and take that home with me". What exactly did this trip accomplish? Nothing in a political sense. What this is is  just another example of how narcissistic these celebraties are like Michael Jackson. Sean Penn makes one trip to Iraq and he's going to tell us that the Iraqi people are good (which nobody debates) and Saddam has no weapons of mass destruction. Then Venezuela where he claimed he was on a trip as a "freelance jounalist", he met with Hugo Chavez toured some barrios, a natual gas plant, and sucked up all the natual gas coming out of Chavez's pie hole. Commenting on his trip later he has said that he has read the Venezuelan Constitution and it's a beautiful document. I wonder which one he's talking about because Chavez likes to change it frequently. One such change he tried would have enabled him to remain President indefinitly. How would Mr. Penn react if George Bush tried such a move. How would Penn react if Pres. Bush shut down MSNBC for constant negative reporting of what if Bush jailed Dan Rather for forging documents about his military service. All of which Hugo Chavez has done in his own country. The hypocricy is staggering. The reason I use Sean Penn as an example in a piece on Michael Jackson is because with Penn like Jackson we have overlooked their actions. Penn blatently supports murderous dictators while denouncing his own country and President as criminal. Jackson wether aquitted or not still had inappropiate relations with children. He still destroyed his face through plastic surgery. He still was a drug addict. And we still hold these people up on pedestals and devote endless media coverage to them. Just the other day Congresswomen Shelia Jackson Lee wanted a resolution in congress to honor the gloved one. In a moment of clarity Speaker Pelosi denied the proposel, unsuprisingly Jackson Lee said she would press on.
Michael Jackson was one of the best performers or the best performer this world has ever experienced. He gave to charity as well he should have. Was he a trailblazer when it came to the black/white crossover, no. At least not to the extent that race hustlers such as Al Sharpton have professed. I think that Chuck Berry, Marvin Gaye, Tina Turner and so many other black musicians that came before MJ should be offended at such pure opportunism. Color barriers were broken long before the self named King of Pop realized real stardom. Does this warrant wall to wall coverage of the man especially over Lt. Bradshaw or the Iranian protesters being butchered in the streets of Tehran, North Korea missle launches, and the withdrawl of our troops in Iraq, one of the most controversial wars ever waged? Not in a sane country.

Are we still a sane country? Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee has at least answered that for herself  and the Congressional Black Congress. The media is hard to blame because they are driven by ratings which are created by the people. I hope we as a country can start focusing more on men like Lt. Bradshaw who from a very early age showed his devotion to his country and service and less on false idols such as Michael Jackson and Sean Penn.

Adults vs. Children

I was watching O'reilly the other night and he had  Dick Morris on. One of the topics was who should be, could be, or wants to be the leader of the Republican party. Morris was on the money, O'reilly not so much. While Bill doesn't see any real challengers that rise to Obama's stature Morris sees it like I do and for that matter, the way Karl Rove sees it. No one needs to step up....just yet.

President Obama and speaker Pelosi are doing all the work for us. Morris and Rove have suggested to take it issue by issue and they are right. There are plenty of issues coming down the road and the issues in the news right now that Republicans are winning without having to go on offense. Amazingly, the one man who has gone on offense and has come out on top is the constitution shredding, draft dodging, hate mongering, oil grabbing, war criminal, Dick Cheney. For me this was a significant moment for the Republican party in the race back to power. Vice President Cheney has been thoroughly villified by the media, the Democrats, and even some in his own party. After his speech at A.E.I I saw no less than three Republican lawmakers run to get  Mr. Cheney's back, but the media itself was pretty quite on the matter. When the left leaning media is at a loss for words about the ex-vice president after a major speech then you know somethings up. The only one who had something to say was you guessed it Keith Olbermann and he had an absolute meltdown. This particular hissy fit was even more over the top than his usual hissy fits, saying the ex-vp was more dangerous than the terrorists themselves. Vice President Cheney's approval ratings since he left office have gone up 8 points, and that was a poll done before the speech. What exactly had Cheney done to improve his image before that? All I can point to is his urging President Obama to release memos that illegedly show how inhanced interrogation techniques worked and stopped further terrorist attacks. Basically, he hasn't done anything to repair his image. One of Obama's pledges was to change from the Washington of old and turn the page. None of that has happened and in fact it's gotten worse. Just last week Speaker Pelosi charged the C.I.A with lying to her on E.I.T's and generally lying or "misleading" congress on a regular basis.

Obama ran as a moderate but to those of us who follow politics closely knew he was no such thing, in fact he was the most liberal Democrat to ever run as documented by his voting record and illustrated by his former pastor. If the media had done their homework on the then Sen., if the Republicans had rightly shown Democrats were even more copable if not completely responsible for the housing collapse, or the campaign had gone on a month or two longer we might not even be having these debates. Were the Republicans really that far off? An unpopular war, a large deficit, percieved illegalities committed by the White House, and a completely bias media, John McCain still garnered 47% of the vote. Just shy of 60 million votes, all things considered McCain did pretty damn good.

Now former Republicans such as Colin Powell are saying the party has gone too far to the right. I personally am a former Democrat and the General is being intellectually dishonest. I actually left the Democratic party because they started moving to far to the left. As Dennis Miller put it, Gen. Powell is in the "Colin Powell legacy business",  he feels he got used by the Bush administration over Iraq and he's out rehabilitating his image. So as Republicans, if Gen. Powell offers up stategy on winning the wars in Iraq or Afganistan, drop everything and listen up. If Gen. Powell is offering up strategies on how Republicans can win the next election, take a pass. We nominated John McCain and while Sen. McCain considered himself a foot soldier in the 'Reagan Revolution' I don't think anyone would confuse the two. I listen to conservatives on t.v. and radio and while respected for his service Sen. McCain has never been a favorite.

On the economy: Spending in the tens of  trillions over the next 4 years, cap and trade, nationalized health care, bank takeovers, car manufacturer takeovers, promoting legislation such as card check that favors the unions while giving the unions majority shares in Chrysler and Gm, capping executive salaries, and the eventuality of tax hikes on small business and the middle class, will not let Obama hold on to Independents, fiscally responsible Democrats, and Republicans who strayed. On National security: How many libs will the troop surge in Afganistan, the slow down of the withdrawl from Iraq, re-instituting military tribunals, and holding detainees indefinitly, put off?  He's already been shut down by his own party on Gitmo. He's also been talking  immagration reform, undoubtedly this will include amnesty. The country has already spoken on the issue, come here legally. Will these new strategies on "The War On Terror", I forgot we don't use that term anymore, whatever we call it, will these new strategies/policies work with Obama's touch? Some might take, but I think the majority will fail. These policies deal with most serious issues our country has ever faced. If 50% fail he's sunk. If we are hit again, he's sunk. My grandfather used to say "don't bite off more than you can chew". I used to work in the bar business and when bar tenders we're overwelmed they would say that they we're "in the weeds". Well, Obama has bitten off more than he can chew and he's in the weeds. He's tried to do too much too fast and he's too far to the left.

So who? Romney/Pence. Thats right Romney/Pence. Two guys who can speak, who are good looking, and who present themselves as adults. This last week I thought I heard an emerging narrative come out. Obama's administration compared to Bush's was one of a child seeing the world for what it wants it to be and one of an adult seeing the world for what it is. Conservatives are the adults and Liberals are the children. We are also a narcissistic nation and Obama won on all the aesthetics. That's my ticket for now, it could change. Like I said earlier we don't need anyone to come forward just yet. Lets take it issue by issue and let the Pelosi/Reid led congress and the Obama administration take their natural overreaching coarse.

Old silver haired white guys

Is it me or are all of our leading conservative spokesmen  50-60 yrs. old, silver haired or bald, and white. Although I have a mexican father, a mexican sur name, and look completely hispanic my  white grandfather who is old, mostly bald with some silver hair left, raised me. He is my only true hero. So don't take this piece the wrong way.

I was watching Hannity's great american panel and Hugh Hewitt was on the panel and I just couldn't get over his silver lettuce. It's not just the silverness of it, it's just so generic and totally void of any style.  Slick it back or something, grow a goatee, anything. One of the following days on the panel Dennis Prager's silver dome showed up. Straight laced, the professorial looking glasses, pretty much a carbon copy of Hugh. On sunday, I believe on Fox Sunday Newt and his white locks were in full glory. Now each one of these conservatives I respect very deeply. Hugh Hewitt is in my top three radio talk show hosts that I listen to. These three are extremely intellectual but I don't know if small t.v. segments are enough to show that each one of these guys posess a sense of humor, pop culture, and more. Even Sean Hannity who has a salt and pepper thing going on, has what seems to be a boring version of Reagans quite stylish do. Whats even more disturbing is Hannity is the stiffest of them all and he's one of the younger prominent voices on our side. Cheney, Rove, Rush, all bald grey haired white guys. Then you have guys like George Will and Tucker Carlson wearing bow ties. Are we trying to send young people running the other way? When people start talking about changing the party they talk about being more inclusive, open minded, and rolling back some of our social policies. Thats not the problem. We need to stick to our conservative tenents. Especially now, we have a chance to make a clear distinction between conservative policies and liberal policies. I am 38, have tatoos, shave my head from time to time, I listen to Social Distortion, Dr. Dre, Gypsy Kings, Foo Fighters, Tupac, Bob Seger, and many others. I'm not saying that your appearance and what kind of music you listen to is the end all in flipping young people to our side, but it couldn't hurt. I work with a lot of young guys in construction and they trip out when I say that I'm a conservative. They ask me why. I tell them it's pretty simple. Everybody is always complaining about the government, especially young people. Conservatives are the only ones calling for less government, less politicians, less intrusion into our daily lives, less taxes, less red tape when trying to get things built. We promote small business, gun rights, and individualism. They had no clue thats what we are about. Most think that we want to censor music and force religion down their throats. We are sexually repressed and are basically the party of no. No you can't do this, no you can't do that. What liberals have done so effectively is define us in the most undesirable ways. Homophobic, racist, war mongoring, religious zelots, that are about as much fun as an insurance convention.

If this was a different time I think the astetics of our leaders would be trivial. But we are fighting liberalism not only through the media (movies, t.v., music, and news) but we are fighting liberalism in our colleges, and now our k-12 system. I just saw a Fox News report that had on a professor from Dayton who has written a book on the liberal bias in our public school's text books. Just seeing some of the examples in the book and hearing about the things being taught at our public schools( global warming the most prevelant) it's starting to look like we're in a losing battle. We need every advantage we can get. We need more Jonah Goldbergs, Meghan Kellys and Mary katherine Hamms. Smart, hip, attractive, fashionable and funny. We've have become a narcissistic nation. Our new president happens to be young, good looking, and well spoken. On top that he happens to be the most narcissistic politician this country has ever seen, in my opinion. If John McCain had the same exact policies as Barack Obama (some extrapolated that he did), and ran as a democrat we would be calling Hillary President instead of  Obama. We need some well spoken, hip, young, intelligent conservatives to present and explain our positions with clarity and style. We still need the Hugh Hewitts, Pragers, Newts, and Limbaughs, a lot of people relate to them and they are true conservatives with tremendous intellectual prowess, but we could still use some new faces.

P.S.

I don't mean growing a ponytail if you're going bald or getting a earring at 50 years old like Ed Bradley of 60 minutes, like many aging liberals like to do.

"If Communism were run by Angels it would be good"

I was raised by my grandparents who were very liberal. My grandfather was a Master Sergeant in the Marines for 22 years and my grandmother was a free spirit, not the hippie type but very liberal. I was thoroughly indoctrinated into democratic politics from a very early age. At holidays it was a regular bash fest on Ronald Reagan and Republicans in general. My uncle Mark, looking back on it he might have been a leftist, just the other week he called me a reactionary. I had to laugh because that's a textbook leftist label.

I called my gramps a few days ago and the discussion quickly turned to politics. I claimed Obama was a socialist and my grandfathers response was not what I expected. He didn't refute that Obama was a socialist but his response was this, "If communism were run by angels it would be good". It blew me away. My grandfather fought tyranny in WWII and Korea. This is a man who raised me with great values and never expressed any of these thoughts. My gramps went to church every sunday and sometimes during the week, but he stopped because he didn't feel he was living up to the tenents of christianity.  My grandfather never drank, smoked, cursed, and never lied. He was very blunt and didn't sugar coat things.  I played a lot of sports and he never gave me praise unless I deserved it. He was a very hard but silent man. If I had gotten into trouble or was disrespectful a simple stern look was sufficient to correct my behavior, most of the time. Like I said his statement was very disturbing because he always taught me to be self sufficient and be responsible for yourself. Until I was 18 he had paid for my car Ins. he told me at 18 I  would have to start paying for it myself he advised me to start looking and set it up so there would be no lapse in coverage. Well I didn't set it up and my car was stolen within the next month or so. Needles to say  he didn't have a lot of sympathy for me. I had to move out at 18. No big deal. While most of my friends were still at home I was happy to be on my own, I had a good job and could afford it. It was freedom. A few times in my  20's and my 30's I needed a break from bills and asked my grandfather if I could stay with him for a little while, he said no. Like I said my gramps wanted me to be self sufficient plus I hadn't been very responsible to that point. Most of my problems have been self inflicted.

What I think what my grandfather was trying to say was that if Communism were run by good people it would be great. But to take by grandfathers words at face value it's easy to show that angels, or anything involved with God is the polar opposite of communism. In Russia churches were taken over and turned into schools of indoctrination.

What is so obvious about Communism is the hostility towards religion. Karl Marx is quoted, "Communism begins where atheism begins". Thats the point. Administors of Communism wanted all religious symbols and figures removed from schools, institutions, and the public square. Lenin, Stalin, Mussolini, and Mao were the new Gods. If the proletariat believed in a higher power then Communist leaders wouldn't be the ultimate authority. Communists wanted to create a "New Man" to shed man of all his natural instincts. French revolutionaries talked of a "civil religion" enforced by the all powerful God-state. For Communism to take hold religion had to be eradicated. "Karl Marx had the Devils view of the world and the Devil's malignity. Sometimes he seemed to know that he was accomplishing the works of evil". Thats Robert Payne, a close friend of marx. A government directive from the Soviet parliment to school educators titled, "Atheistic education in the school", outlined how to seperate God from human society. The opening paragraph is revealing. "The Soviet school, as an instrument for the Communist education of rising generations, can, as a matter of principle, take up no other principle of attitude towards religion than the one of irreconcilable opposition for Communist education has as its philosophical basis Marxism, and Marxism is irreconcilably hostile to religion". These statements and actions show that Communism is not angelic and gets no inspiration from God or religion.

It's very important to understand that the champions of Communism were considered the intellectuals of their time and as such they knew the utopias they promised were fraudulent. While they were able to convince a large number of their citizens with their lofty rhetoric they had to use barbaric coercion to reign in the rest. You see Communism didn't create dictators it attracted them. A Communist government is the most conducive system for a dictatorship. It's just a vehicle to consolidate absolute power and nothing less. If Communism is such fair system for the people then why the need for all the walls? I'll let the leading Communists tell it.

Lenin: Do we really believe that we can be victorious without the cruelest form of terror?
I.N. Stienberg: Then why do we bother with a commisariat of justice? Lets just call it the commisariat for social extermination and be done with it!    Lenin: well put... thats exactly what it should be...but we cant say that. He's not talking about a foreign foe, he's talking about his own people.

Mao Tse Tung: Re-educating your own people you have to administer a powerful shock to the patient and yell at him, you're ill! So that he breaks out all over in a sweat. Then you get him to take the treatment.

Che Gueverra: Revealed in executing prisoners while fomenting revolution in Guatemala, he wrote his mother. "It was a lot of fun, what with the bombs, speeches, and other distractions to break the monotony I was living. His motto was if in doubt kill him.

These were just a few diddy's from the champions of the workers. The hottest places in hell are usually reserved for Nazis. The problem with that is Communism is responsible for many more millions of deaths compared  Nazism.

Our founding fathers were very worldly and educated. Some had traveled the world and studied other forms of government. They were students of history. Coming to the conclusion of employing a capitalist form of government was thoroughly debated by men who had studied other forms of governence and lived under other forms of government. The conclusion was that government needed to be as small and limited as possible, having  just enough government to keep us from anarchy. Capitalism offers the greatest amount of freedom ever known to man. No other form of government has brought as many people out of poverty than Capitalism. Capitalism is responsible for the greatest advancements in medicine, higher education, and invention. It plays into our natural instincts of competition. What communism provides is equal misery, trickle up poverty if you will.  Competition can bring even the laziest most uninspired among us to excellence. There will always be people left behind in any economic system. Socialism the bridge to communism punishes the most productive among us, taxes have become so punitive in our country we have our most productive americans moving their businesses over seas and to former communist countries. China's government has now chimed in and said Obama your spending too much. That's right communist China is giving us advice on capitalism. In communist countries there is the government and the poor. In our Capitalist society we have poor, lower middle class, middle class, upper middle class, rich, and the wealthy. In our country anyone can move up the economic ladder and become powerful. In communist countries all the power is in the hands of the government. As the saying goes absolute power corrupts absolutely. You have the freedom to start your own business, travel to a different country, buy the food you want, purchase the car you want, have as many children as you see fit. The choices are unlimited in every facet of American life.  I was watching VH1 the other day and they had the true story of model Heidi Klum, a top supermodel. She came to the United States from Germany which is a socialist country. When she recounted her arrival, one of the first places she went was a muffin shop, she said she couldn't believe all the different choices of  muffins. Subsequently she went there every day so much so that her fellow models started calling her the "Muffin Lady".

When I was young I would always think why can't all the millionaires just give the rest of us a million dollars. There were surely enough millions to go around. What would happen if money was just given away? There would be a systematic failure of our whole country. Think about a car, bike, or anything else you buy for yourself with money you've earned through hard work. Now think about these same items if they are given to you. Which one do you value more and take better care of? The answer is simple. People take care and have pride in things they work hard for while things given to them are trashed.  Production of goods and services would be unbearabley slow. The quaility of goods would drastically decrease. Invention and advances in technology and medicine would come to a virtual halt. If there is a limit to what you can earn and the goverment allocates your housing, food, clothing, and education then why try to do better than your co-worker or your neighbor? More and more in this country we are starting to think that the government owes us something. There was a time when President Kennedy said, " Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country". We have plenty of socialist programs that are abused and prolong the plight of the underprivileged.  If social programs such as welfare are so successful then why do they it keep expanding? It keeps people in perpetual poverty basically creating careers in welfare.

I love and respect my grandfather more than anyone on the face of the earth. He is an honest a decent man but he comes from the only socialist organization in America that is successful, the military. That colors my grandfathers views on collectivism. What he doesn't realize is that the military isn't 300 million strong and its completely volunteer. Men of faith know that man is flawed and every form of government has it's own flaws because governments are created by man. What has been proven by history is that the free market system of Capitalism is the most successful form of government, ever. It is the envy of the world, men and women risk their lives to migrate to this country illegally and in the most life threatening ways possible.

I'll leave you with one last thought. When the sunami hit indonesia Americans gave twice as much in charitable contributions than the next closest country. Thats the citizens, not our government. Our government has promoted and given us the capability to give to others. People say well we should be the ones to give the most. That completely neglects the fact that Capitalism is responsible for our prosperity and allows us to give more than socialist and communist countries. It becomes almost comical when other countries call us greedy. If giving is the criteria for being angelic then the U.S. has the biggest halos. To be truthful communism is the furthest thing from being fair, just, giving, and free. If angels were to come down tomorrow they wouldn't even entertain the thought of Communism. They would run in the opposite direction.

Disappointed in horowitz

I recently read David Horowitz's column on ratcheting down the rhetoric on Obama. He states that he has a growing concern that conservatives are name calling like liberals did to GWB.  Full disclosure I am a very big fan of  David Horowitz, his book Radical Son really completed my conversion from left to right but we're going to have to part ways on this one.  Anti-christ and Mussolini are some of the names used to label Obama by conservatives. I read a lot of columns like David's, I listen and watch conservatives on radio and t.v. but have never heard those names applied to Obama. What I have heard attributed to our new president are terms like socialist, collectivist, and marxist. The latter probably the most inflammatory. Are these labels appropiate? Yes. I prefer marxist because I think it's the most accurate. Increasingly in our great country we aren't calling things and people by their rightful labels and names. Illegal immigrants are called just migrant workers in any news story especially if they are involved in a crime. The term "War on Terror" is being dropped. Nationalized healthcare is now called "Universal" healthcare. I could go on, the list is long and very Orwellian. In every stage of  Obama's life from his childhood to his political career he has been mentored by marxists, and has said as much. Starting with his mother who was a radical in her own right. In Hawaii he sought guidance from a poet named "Frank" as referenced in his first book 'Dreams'. Well doing the minimal amount of research shows that "Frank" is none other than Frank Marshall Davis member of the CPUSA.  "Frank" was brought before the House of Un-American Activities Commities, government documents show this. In the same book our new president states that in college he attached himself to marxist professors along with other leftist groups. As a state legislator in Illinois his mentor according to him was Alice Palmer. Palmer is a known leftist and is currently a member of many communist front groups. In the early 80's she traveled to the Soviet Union to sit in on their congress and returned to the states with rave reviews of the Soviet system and their progressive policies. At the start of Obama's poltical jump-off he had a "coffee" held at the house of none other than Bill Ayers, a well respected professor and academic, according to Obama. A house also shared by Bernadine Dohrn. At one point named one of  America's most dangerous  people Dorhn is now considered a noble barrister. There are more examples, but finally he spent 20 years in a church that preeched Black Liberation Theology. BLT is nothing more than marxist ideology cloaked in Christianity. It's roots originating from central american marxists. Jonah Goldberg quotes George Carlin in his book 'Liberal Fascism' from the Bill Maher show. "When fascism comes to America, it will not be in brown and black shirts. It will not be with jack-boots. It will be Nike sneakers and Smiley shirts". No doubtedly he was mocking conservatives but we should all take something from this. After WWII communists/marxists hid their beliefs and associations. In the 70's marxists we're very vocal about their ideologies even going so far as claiming a certain brand if you will, Maoist, Trotskyite, and the like. After vietnam the New Left movement  was essentially over.  What happened was they,  in my belief  came up with a new strategy.  Stop with the crazy protests, bathe, put on a suit and tie,  become part of the system, become politicians, teachers, judges and lawyers changing the system from within. Now they have the perfect spokesmodel in the White House. He's a handsome man that has a great voice and can read a teleprompter very well. He's  young, hip, and innoculated from criticism because people are afraid of being called racists. We have to start calling ducks ducks and marxists marxists. Like McCain said, "don't be fooled by lofty rhetoric and empty calls for change".  And remember this. Communism won't come in the form of berets embroidered with the hammer and sickle on the side or some kids wearing some Che shirts. It will come with somebody wearing a suit or pant suit with an  American flag pin on their lapel telling you that they can provide you with healthcare, higher education, baby bonds, housing, and more. All you have to do is vote for them.
